Childhood memories, the Fiat x1/9 was however not a dreamcar. It just looked too different. They were very rare even, at their hayday. Perhaps overpriced at the time. Today they're a relative cheap way to get a classic car. Back in the 1970's an x1/9 was around 3x the price of an MG. Today it's the other way round. I had nearly of them as scale cars. Except for the Kei car and the Porsche 914. The Porsche 914 seemed to be very popular. It had a better reputation than the 924. 924 was known as the one to buy, if You could not afford a Porsche, but only an Audi. You would get an Audi dressed as a Porsche. Today people probably appreciate them more than back then.

Neat video, but the Alpine A110 is a rear engined car. The engine hangs out beyond the centerline of the rear wheels, like a Porsche 911 or VW Beetle. Other than that little snafu, that's a fun video. One mid engine conversion I've always enjoyed were Corvairs. The air cooled six cylinder would be taken out of the rear and a V8 installed where the rear seats would have gone. Though a radiator would have to be added and a lot of custom fabrication performed, the end product was light, balanced and quick.
