you will be pulling the engine back out to change out that chrome oil pan
September 14, 2019 at 11:19 am #79994thehappyTexan
Why do engine stands not fit between the legs of engine hoists? That was an epic brain fart!

So that transmission, is it a 700r4 case with 4l60e parts in it? Cause i thought only the 700r4 had a one piece design with removable tail end.
September 14, 2019 at 11:19 am #79996MrTurtlekid434
interesting fact: the K on the trans bellhousing means it was originally a 4×4 transmission

Maybe was in the video but why did you go with a carburetor? I get it's not a "performance" truck but if you're spending the money on rebuilding everything I would have spent another $600 on an EFI carb and get it running perfect no matter where you go.

Now I'm freaked out. Instructions in my arp kit said their fastener lube and 80 lb ft. No mention of loctite. Same application. 1 pc rear main?

Nothing like installing fresh, clean new parts into a clean engine bay, SO much more enjoyable than not – even if ya just do a quick degrease and washdown and black spray paint, huge difference.

I also learned the hard way many years ago, when its THAT much trouble to have to go back and redo something, never take shortcuts follow instructions to the letter, its a lot less hassle now than with everything together and in the vehicle. Its easy to get impatient to see it all come together and run but its a dead dog bummer to have to install and remove an engine twice for such an easy task — ask me how I know—lol

"Honey what are you watching?" – Reply: "Engine and transmission mating." Puzzled look…."???? Car porn?" … Reply, pondering…."Yeah, I guess you can say that. There's a lot of greasy grunting and rolling around…yeah… car porn."

I dont see a issue with the torque stick because you arent torquing a bearing cap or anything lol

Looks like a 4l80e. …..pops gonna have a sharp lil racey truck!!!

I know it's a little too late but did you ever think of using an engine leveler on your hoist ?

Great video series with good information. Good that you leave mistakes and mention them. Same type of errors happen to any intermediate wrench head.

I still cant believe people are dumb enough to use those 4 tiny studs on the intake to lift an engine and trans.

Nice job my man! I remember how "fun" my engine/trans installation was back when I built a motor for my Charger. Like you, I did the installation all by myself, only I had small jack stands, and an uneven driveway which kept resulting in my hoist getting caught in the cracks (Oh yeah it was fun). After I dropped the engine home, I installed the trans by crawling underneath and using my body as a transmission jack LOL! Wish I had more tools, that's for sure. But I got er done! That feeling after you drop a fresh engine into your vehicle is like none other! And the level of anxiety when ya crank it for the first time is always pretty thrilling too lol! Can't wait to hear the truck fire up! =]

Nasty looking beard anymore. The cleaner old look was way better.

What's an acceptable gap between flex plate and converter mounting point. Trying to figure if I will need spacers or let the converter pull forward. I know it should not pull forward too much though.

Did I miss you bolting the torque converter to the flex plate? My eyes were heavy, so I might have had a quick power nap. Everything is so sanitary, so clean. Nice job, nice calm narrative.

How is that Monster Transmission? I was looking at one but the reviews they have are pretty bad it scared me.
September 14, 2019 at 11:19 am #80025Molly Penderson
When will we HEAR THAT ENGINE RUN! THIS IS FRAUD AND A SCAM!
September 14, 2019 at 11:19 am #80026jon doe
I had the same thing happen. Rebuilt an engine only to have a โtapโ when reassembled. Come to find out it was the bolts that backed out on me on the plate.

That engine bay looks like it could use a Chevy big block.
