The mustang is just one car of the many vehicles Ford makes. A single car is not gonna bring 1.7 Billion in losses. I get it though, your world revolves around the mustang. And it makes sense to associate everything Ford does around the mustang and make videos about it on YT. But in this particular case, the mustang had little, if nothing at all, do to with Ford's losses. Across all mustang platforms (including gt, gt350, ecoboost), the mustang made up about 3.1% of all Ford's vehicle sales in 2019. Pretty ridiculous to think the advertisement of a single mustang platform (i.e. gt500) would be responsible for losing the company 1.7 billion dollars.

Ford has a SUPERNATURAL ability to underwhelme !! !! !!
I’m excited about the Bronco, but I’m not holding my breath.

BEAR IN MIND GM WENT BANKRUPT, FILED BANKRUPTCY AND DOES NOT HAVE THE FINANCIAL LIABILITIES THAT FORD DOES. GM HAD BILLIONS AND BILLIONS OF DEBT WIPED AWAY AT TAX PAYER EXPENSE. THE MACH E IS NEEDED IN FORDS LINE UP, SO IT IS A GOOD MOVE. JUST REMOVE THE WORD MUSTANG FROM IT. BTW, FORD AS A SINGLE NAME PLATE AUTO MANUFACTURER OUT SOLD EVERY MANUFACTURER OUT THERE FOR MANY YEARS NOW, AND IS CURRENTLY IN THE LEAD BY ABOUT 40,000 SO FAR.

    calling the mach-e a mustang is/was a mistake

The GT500 isn’t a blip on Ford’s financial statement. Their problem was the rough launch of the 2020 Explorer and Aviator. They also aren’t seeing as high of a conversion rate of former car buyers to their SUVs. They should have had at least one more generation of the Focus and Fusion in the US.

1000% correct an all electric mustang makes way more sense than a suv that looks like a mustang

You are 100% correct! Mustang could be so much more!!
Painful to watch the botching of the Bronco!! 🤦🏻‍♂️IFS🤷🏻‍♂️
I’m a huge Ford guy! They need new upper management calling the shots!! 🧐

It's that killer instinct they've lost it

Marlon Elmore Freedom Is Ours not division

Ford needs to get back to that competitive edge that they had when they built a car to dominate Ferrari instead of chasing Ferrari that killer instinct is needed right somewhere along the way they lost it

Really wish Ford would have used the ’Explorer’ name and kept Mustang for coupes.
I like that idea of yours to make an electric stang, dual motor?, to go against the Tesla coupe that isn’t out yet.

Ford does not listen to their customers. Mustang guys have been asking for more cubic inches and more power since back in the fox body days. After years of losing to GM they released the terminator for only two years then back to the the same slow ass days of old with the 3v 4.6 mod engine. I've owned 9 mustangs including the S550 5.0 but I just can't do it anymore. I think one day I'll build another fox platform car who knows but I won't be buying anything new that Ford makes that is a sure thing. Love the color combo on your GT500 🍻

Ford messed up the name Mustang with introduction of Mustang Mach E.

It's not just the gt500 took to long but the Bronco is taking forever to come out. Also Jeep came out with the new Gladiator.

Also can we talk about the C8 base model being $15K less than the GT500 but lighter and faster 0-60 and they literally have near similar 1/4 mile. Plus the Corvette handles better and no offense, looks like a supercar. Ford is building in the past, and Chevy is building the future.

This is what happens when you think you know better than your consumers. Putting Mach-e on the Mustang name is the worst idea ever. And Mustang was NEVER meant to be a brand, it is a model. And getting rid of all cars (Except the Mustang) even the Japanese are saying Ford is making a HUGE Blunder by doing this. You always need a cheap entry level car. I have always been a Ford Fan, but I may be out because I cannot live with an electric sedan named Mustang, its garbage.

    thomasj1026

Yeah Ford's marketing for specialty vehicles and the mustang sucks. And they are pricing all their vehicles into entry level bmw territory. 50k for a fully loaded car is crazy. I remember when 30k got you a fully loaded mustang and that was just 10yrs ago

    Mach E = MustakE
Horrible idea to make an SUV with the Mustang name.
1953 – the Corvette debuts as a 2 seat sports car. Fast forward to 2020. The Corvette is still a 2 seat sports car and is America's sports car.
1955 – the Thunderbird debuts as a 2 seat sports car to compete with the Corvette. Then as the years roll on it becomes bigger and obese and Ford tries 4 doors out on it, etc, etc…. Fast forward to 2020. Where is the Thunderbird? Long gone. Just like the idiocy of an idea that the Mustang should have an SUV. Make an electric SUV, I don't care! But please don't kill the Mustang by putting its name on the thing!!!!!

New ad: Ford MustakE: From the makers of the Thunderbird. We've got a dumber idea!

I think that ford also shot themselves in the foot because they got rid of the sedans and not to mention the hot hatches that people like ( besides the head gasket problems they were having) but they killed that crowd of people. Say what you want about people weren’t buying them but I’ve live in NYC and currently in N.C., I see a lot of fusions focus ST’s and RS’s running around.

I call bullshit, if FORD projections put profit at 5 billion and they only make 3 billion that’s how they get a 2 billion dollar LOSS! They still made a boat load of money just not what they wanted! I love my 2018 mustang but they have lost their “SOUL!” Henry Ford was an innovator who paved the way! Ford at the present is trying to catch up to the innovators and Ford is not very good at following that’s why projections were a bit generous and the releases of the new models were muted. Hopefully Ford will use there ingenuity that they have and not just rely on a name Mustang/Shelby to launch their future with.

Also everything you said also is correct not arguing. Yes also the prices are way too high.

Dont forget all the warranty claims they are paying and those junk transmissions in the focus and the fiesta. Not to mention the junk 1.5 engines. I know our dealer has put 6 yes 6 1.5 engines in the last few months. And many more that technically failed the tests on the 1.5 engines was topped off with coolant and shipped. Their product is trash. I'm sorry. They are too worried about selling new junk and not making it a quality product. What I say can be backed up on Ford employee forums that I am on.

Everybody got C8s cuz of that over the top asking price an 10k+ markups

Yea when I worked for Lincoln and mercury ford always does a crappy job getting out the product. When Lincoln LS came out the pamphlet had nothing about the car. Better get off there ass won't be around much longer.

And while the mustang's priced ridiculously high, lets not forget the matainence in the absurd amount of gas you have to put in the very small gas tank (whats crazy is this mustang's gas rating is lower than the hellcat redeye and its smaller to the redeye in the aspects of engine size, weight, power, # of fuel pumps, and supercharger size), high quality expensive tires, a big amount of expensive motor oil, insurance, etc.

Ford's CEO needs to go, it's almost like he was trying to bring the company down. They just changed things up so hopefully they can get a good management team together and go in a different direction. They make some great vehicles, but they've made some poor choices.

    #114817
    Joe Panciarello

I'm in total agreement with you, Ford needs to be more aggressive in it's marketing strategy. I've owned nothing but Ford's since 1970, and that will never change, but I see twice as many GM commercials as Ford.

    #114818
    Tim Johnson

It’s been a downhill slide beginning when Alan Mullaley departed. Once again Ford has no direction and proves itself to be a follower.
