To Sir Scotty, you sir are indeed a man of wise words. Everything you say in this video is exactly what I have done for my 30 years of driving. The sad part is although I always try to part this information to friends and colleagues, they always shrug it off, yet they live terminally in debt!!. Btw I have always owned and driven Toyota, Lexus, Mitsubishi, and Honda vehicles with basically ZERO major issues!

How can you save if you have a car payment. Unless you’re making a lot of money, one emergency and you will lose everything

Why most ppl I know need more than a car that has good AC/Power steering and is relatively quiet and clean inside and out is beyond me, this can be had for a few thousand rather than the 30 + grand many pay is beyond me…I have too much imagination for what else I can do with my money to spend it on a new modern car.

    Lexus…stealth wealth.

    Comfort, value, and reliability.

Buying a used car means that you also have to live with the ticking time bomb of "when will this car break down on me?". I've had plenty of used cars and it's not worth it.

A car loan doesn't mean you can afford it, it means you can't. Pay cash people don't be like one of these monthly payment paupers.

I know nothing about engines or detailed specs of every car. But i love em. I love driving. A car is an investment and is also my happiness. We never had a brandnew car. Mostly used. If i would buy a new car it would be subaru brz. Or honda nsx. That would be nice.

Great words sir scotty! Im a fan from the PHILIPPINES! im a pinoy and im learning a lot from you!

That's true Scotty. Older car can be repairable and tuned outside the dealership. I had geely EC7 2014 and I preferd it over used modern at its age due this car is really easy to repair. The honist mechanic always say this car is traditional revival. Most modern car nowadays is really mechanical computer that any mistakes led to another cost.
Other benefit that I can replace any interior of it by myself and now my interior is likely worth 50000$ car.

Scotty, it is all well and good in your case. But I don't have a garage, and I don't posess the ability to do anything myself. My body has some defects and my brain is geared towards other things than electronics and mechanics. I bought cheaper cars for twenty years. In my experience, it was more expensive. Maybe I had bad luck. I decided to go for a Mitsubishi Mirage with the dreadful CVT (I knew wnen I bought it) and I have driven completely trouble free for 5 years now. I plan to keep it until it falls apart.

High end luxury cars will easily depreciate $1,000 a month or more over their life. They do however attract women and make it easier to get laid so just know what you are paying for.

Notice everything around him looks like something from a yard sale. I’d rather jump off a bridge than live like that

In Australia where I live, I pay just over $800 per yr for registration. It is a 4 cylinder Hilux (Tacoma). That does not include insurance if I crash. What do you pay and where are you located?

That's why I drive a 44 years old Plymouth Duster, yeah a classic car as a daily driver… against all of Scotty's advices. Also got it cheap at 1k with few details, spend maybe $250 getting it running right, previous owner didn't know how to turn a wrench…

"Most cars you buy, are the worst investments you'll ever make" (5:48 min)
-Totally agree! Just buy cheap end cars and reserve money for repairs.

I think it's better than buying debt high-value car, because eventually it needs repairs too after a few years… Value goes still down fast when car is new.

You can buy 10 year old Lexus cheaper than a base model Corolla.

A car is not an investment unless it's a rare collectible. It's simply an expenditure.

    #76926
    Tlustej Šmelinař

It always pays to spend hundreds $ on car repairs, then thousands $ on car payments.

It's because those rich people grew up poor, worked hard, and know the value of a dollar. They live a normal life in the suburbs, drive a Toyota Camry, don't have the ego to post pictures on Instagram or Facebook, and make sure their wife can have the time to take care of the children instead of work.
