Getting rid of a car is not easy. Selling a car, scrapping a car, donating a car, giving it away are all tough. Last week I donated my 2005 VW Passat to Second …February 27, 2020 at 9:49 am #119389GEARWRENCH

I own 2003 Passat station wagon with 1.9 tdi.
My grandpa bought it new in 2003, gave it to my parents in 2012. and since 2016. (when I got my licence) I am using it as my only car, which means a lot of daily driving, has more than a few dings and scratches (and nearly 300.000km). Since I am 21, I cannot really afford to make it clean as yours was yet. But one thing I do know, once I buy another car, Passat is going trough semi-full restauration and probably would never sell it because neither my grandpa nor father are here today with us. So thats why I will always keep it. It could be worth 1500$ at its best, but for me, my b5.5 is priceless.Edit: Thanks Charles for posting your videos, doing what you do, and trough all that time, I learned a lot how to DIY on my car (we even chatted a few times on Fb) so thanks a lot Charles, this video somehow really feels close to me. Keep the good work, cheers.

Those brakes remind me that Iβll need rotors (and pads) for my MkIV Jetta, 2.0. Can you recommend any rotor brands for regular driving? Are brands on sites like DAP or ECS Tuning worth the money? Should I purchase from my local parts shops? Can I trust the brands on Amazon? Or is OEM simply best?

Love this! This is so great! No only did you, and all those guys involved, really help this lady in a major way… This affects her kid, and all of the people she takes care of, like y'all said in the video. I have a really good friend who is in the same line of work as this lady. It means so much to her clients when she's able to take them places. Most people take being able to get out of the house for granted. For most people, it's an everyday thing. But when you're dependant on someone else, a caregiver or whoever, you Don really get out that often. And as someone who has been stuck at home for a long period of time due to a back injury, it's so nice to be able to get out, even if it's just to go to the grocery store, or even just ride around. This lady is now able to take her clients places, and for some of them, that may mean the world to them.
Once again, love the videos, as always. Especially this one. Keep on keeping on!February 27, 2020 at 9:49 am #119402Ken Sang

I am sorry that the new family will
Neglect the Passat and it will end up dying like all the other passats , by clogged up oil pump pickup tube or turbo died of oil starvation.February 27, 2020 at 9:49 am #119411Joe Toner

Hey Charles, where did you get that timing belt kit?? I was under the impression that the BHW in the Passat had the newer self-contained mechanical tensioner instead of the older hydraulic one with the external piston.
I imported an AWX engine from a European Audi A4 into North America for my engine swap project and since it has the hydraulic style one, I've been struggling to find a North American source for a timing belt kit.

I'm so sorry you had to let your Passat go.. I think I'll be buried in mine, though.

I hope you put some HID bulbs on that passat, factory head lights on this passat are a hazard, they should have been recalled. I hope u polished the head lights also. This lady needs to see where she is driving at nights.

Hopefully they take care of the car the same way you did.
We are not so far from seeing these B5/5.5 going out the road because of greater repair costs than what the car is worth. I wish I was wrong.February 27, 2020 at 9:49 am #119425lexusgs43
I could never ever give away my 2006 1Z5 Ε koda Octavia Wagon. Have it for 7 years now and have a lot of good memories with that car. Charles you are an awesome guy!
