    You based this on Roger Huntington's work in analyzing true HP. How accurate was he? We really don't know for sure, without peer review, but he's very likely much closer then the guesses made by the car manufacturer's fans.
    According to him, in just the selected engines listed in the article, the L88 and ZL1 were the highest rated HP, followed closely by the dual quad Hemi. The 454 LS6 and 427 R code Ford was not covered but I would guess was right up there as well.

    What people don't seem to remember that starting in the mid 60s Insurance companies took notice of Detroit and muscle cars and started setting rates based on HP #s. Why do you thing Manufacturers started putting out SAE/net HP #s starting in 71?

    I am surpr7sed y8u did n8t metion the mighty 426 hemi. Rated at 435 hp. True hp per nick's garage dynorun put it at 490hp
